We exist because the crisis is real. 450M people living with mental illness worldwide 1 IN 5 Canadians experience a mental illness in any given year 4,000 Canadians die by suicide every year—an average of 11 per day 800K people die by suicide every year—one every 40 seconds While mental illness accounts for about 10 per cent of the burden of disease in Ontario, it receives just 7 per cent of healthcare dollars—creating a deficit of approximately $1.5 billion annually.
