What is 100 Women Who Care Fernie, BC?

100 Women Who Care is a movement of people gathering together to make a difference. There are currently more than 700 chapters worldwide. In October 2019, two Fernie women thought “why not a Chapter in the Elk Valley?” And so began the journey. A volunteer committee of eight women gathered and started planning. We had ambitious goals to bring women together in a great setting, enjoy great food, pool our $100 donations and through a nomination and voting process, select local organizations to support. AND then COVID hit and our plans stalled but a global pandemic wasn’t going to stop us! 100WWCFernie was launched December 2020 via ZOOM, we raised $10,000, funded 3 local causes and haven’t looked back since that first Giving Event! We now meet in person, gathering twice a year, each donating $100, nominating a favorite cause and as a group selecting two local organizations to split all funds raised 50/50. It’s efficient, effective and incredibly gratifying!!
